Jay Morton was born and raised locally and attended Felpham Community College, where the inspiration and support of great teachers allowed her to go on to study architecture at University College London. Jay is the daughter of a plumber and a cook and is the first person in her family to go to university. She has strong family ties with Chichester and her desire is to make it a better and fairer place for all to live.

Jay is currently an Associate at Bell Phillips Architects, and as an architect she works mainly in social and affordable housing and public places. Here she sees at first-hand how the planning of a street, creating new job opportunities or access to affordable housing can really shape a community for the better.

Jay is involved with the campaign group Generation Rent and is also a member of the Fabian Society. She runs a series of talks at the House of Commons titled ‘Glass Ceiling Not Glass Slipper’ to establish what holds women back in the twenty-first century.
