With the ongoing political crisis at Westminster the latest opinion polls released last week suggests Chichester would be won by Labour should an election be called today.

The opinion polling conducted by Pollbass for People Polling on October 20th had Labour on 53% of the total share of the vote with the Conservatives plummeting to the lowest level of support ever on 14% only a mere 3% ahead of the Liberal Democrats.

Labour came 2nd to the Conservatives in Chichester in both 2015 and 2017. Labour won their first district and city council seats in over 30 years in 2019.

Clare Walsh the Chair of Chichester Labour has said, “Neither the Greens nor Lib Dems have gained any support in the latest polling. It is clear that both locally, and across the country, Labour is the only party capable of challenging the Conservatives and forming the next government.”

Clare Walsh continued, “Today we are launching our campaign to make Chichester a Labour gain and elect a Labour government. A government that is able and willing, in a time of grave crises, to provide the stable and responsive government needed with the national interest in mind. We call on all those who wish to make this a reality to join our team.”
