Chichester Labour Party A fresh voice for a fairer, greener Chichester
Following the shambolic decision from Highways England to reject both the north and south upgrade options for the A27. Chichester Labour has called for urgent improvement and investment in East/West public transport to help mitigate traffic on the A27.
Chichester Labour spokesperson Phil Wilson says, “kicking the decision on the A27 in to the long grass will not help residents and commuters currently using the A27. What is needed, and would be possible in a relatively short period of time is urgent action to improve East-West public transport to help mitigate the worst affects of traffic”.
Phil Wilson continued, “ The failure to make a decision on the future of the A27 is of great concern especially when the District Council Local Plan, currently undergoing consultation, would see an additional 10,000 homes being built in the district with inadequate improvements to such a key route”.
