Chichester Labour Party A fresh voice for a fairer, greener Chichester
Big name stores close with many retail units now standing empty across City Centre.
People in Chichester are rightly proud about the city centre so it is dreadful that we have lost so many important stores like House of Fraser, HMV and others – too many units in Chichester are now standing empty. We need urgent action to support our high streets.
Labour has a plan to revive our high streets. Labour will create regional banks to invest in
communities and local businesses, improve bus services and introduce free bus travel for under 25s, put more police on the beat to keep streets safe, ban cash machine charges, stop bank branch and Post Office closures and introduce fairer business rates.
Labour’s Mandy Atkinson said “High Streets like ours should be the heart of our local economy. That’s why we’ll prioritise giving them a boost and fight to support local businesses.”
Phil Wilson said, ”High streets are changing but how we support local businesses through this transition will be vital if we are to have a vibrant City Centre.”
